It has been awhile since I have talked trains on here. Well low and behold Amtrak has two great sales going on right now for people on the East Coast. Fares have been lowered by up to 25% and now is the time to get in one the lower rail prices for that summer getaway.
New Summer fares on Acela: For travel between June 2 and September 3, Amtrak will offer reduced prices on Acela Express with a 14-day advance purchase. Some routes include:
- New York – Washington DC: $99
- New York – Boston: $79
- Washington DC – Philadelphia: $73
- Wilmington – Washington DC: $54

So if you hate the long lines, tedious delays, and annoying security checks that come with flying or do not want to drive now with gas prices creeping back up, then definitely take the train. It is both an economically and an environmentally smart way to travel. Just pack a lunch, because Amtrak food is awful.
