Update July 4, 2010: I was lucky enough to be one of the first to check out the Norwegian Epic when it came through New York City over the July 4th weekend. Check out my review by clicking here.)
USA Today’s Gene Sloan has a great article online today that discusses Norwegian Cruise Line’s original cabin design that will be featured on its new ship Epic. Sloan describes it as, “A cluster of interior cabins built around a communal living area.” These new cruise digs, which will be named The Studios, will also feature an exclusive two floor section of the ship called the Living Room.

Aimed at the budget conscious traveler (and honestly isn’t that most of us?) and set to debut in May 2010, Epic’s new rooms, while small at just 100 square feet, will be state of the art and offer large windows with a color changing light effect that you can customize to fit your mood. Studio passengers looking to relax after a day at sea will be able to do so in the Living Room, which provides comfy seating, a fully stocked bar, two large TV screens and concierge service. This great feature can only be accessed by using your Studio key card. Talk about VIP treatment!
