EuroCheapo Announces the Cheapo 100

Even though the Euro has been kinder to U.S. travelers these days than in recent years, visiting Europe can still be very expensive. One thing that kills most people’s budget is how much they wind up spending on a hotel.

But the good  people over at EuroCheapo are obsessed (some would say it is a sickness)  with finding great places to rest your head while overseas without breaking your piggy bank.

To celebrate turning nine years old, EuroCheapo is unveiling their first annual “Cheapo 100″ which is a list of the site’s favorite budget hotels throughout 19  European cities and one U.S. city (New York of course).

“There are cheap hotels and then there are fantastic cheap hotels,” said Tom Meyers, EuroCheapo’s founder and Editor-In-Chief. “This list includes the 100 hotels and B&Bs most enthusiastically recommended by our editorial team. We have ‘hotel crushes’ on these properties and we think our readers will, too.”

The “Cheapo 100″ covered five categories which include Best Location, Most Unique, Best Budget Style, Best B&B, Pension or Guesthouse and Super Cheapo, which the site describes as a collection of hotels and hostels with private rooms that offer guests  “no-frills, bargain basement accommodations in a central location.”
