Yeah, try pronouncing that name! This popular lake,  located in Webster, Massachusetts, has been bugging locals for years. Seems that even the residents have a hard time pronouncing the 13-syllable lake’s name properly.

Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg is the longest place name in the United States and 6th longest in the world.  The 49-letter name (the picture above abbreviates the name to just a measly 45-letters) has the letter  “g”  in it 17 times! That is the most instances of any letter in any word. The name also features the letter “a” 10 times (excluding “a” in “lake”), which is also more than any word in the English language.

So what does translate to exactly? The name of the lake is believed to mean, “Fishing Place at the Boundaries — Neutral Meeting Grounds.” If all of those letters scare you, just simply call it by its other alias…Webster Lake.
