This absolutely stunning photograph was posted last Monday on the Flickr account of the Guatemalan government. What you are looking at is the aftermath of heavy downpours from tropical storm Agatha that soaked much of Guatemala City last weekend.
The sinkhole swallowed up a three-story apartment building that also contained a clothing factory, leaving locals fearing for their lives as most have now moved far away from the disaster area.
Guatemala City authorities, who have no idea if the incident took any lives, said that the site of the sinkhole has a drainpipe of the Guatemala City sewer system. Geologists are baffled and still can not explain how this scientifically happened.
