Saturday Travel Shot: Nathan’s Famous In Brooklyn, New York

Jul 04, 2009 3 Comments by Andrew Hickey

I grew up just 10 minutes from this delicious New York landmark. I go back from time to time to enjoy a crunchy hot dog, mouthwatering cheese fries and a thirst-quenching lemonade. This is a must see destination when visiting Brooklyn. Yes the neighborhood is not as nice as it used to be, but get over that and come here. When in the area check out the beach or take in a Brooklyn Cyclones softball game at KeySpan park. About 30,000 people will flock to this locale and over 1.5 million will watch on ESPN today as this little restaurant hosts the 94th annual Nathan's hot dog eating competition.

As a Brooklyn native, this couldn’t have been a better Sat Travel Shot! Happy 4th!

Awesome picture. I visited Coney Island in 2006 and fell in love with the area. Although it is falling apart, that is part of its charm. People need to take the train to Stillwell Ave…they will not regret it.

With this, an image of the hotdog eating contest comes to mind all the time. Nice to know Kobayashi (?) is beaten by an American!
