The Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina will reopen in May and debut a new name next week.
In February, I wrote about the mismanaged and poorly timed Hard Rock Cafe in South Carolina debuting last April after a $400 million investment, only to see it close five months later. Well the park was saved, the reopening is this May and everything looks to be going as planned…except one major detail.
The company that purchased the park for a steal at $25 million did not get the name with the deal. To keep Hard Rock in the title would cost FPI MB Entertainment $2.5 million a year. So wisely in these times of cutting back and be fiscally conservative, the owners stated that they will NOT use the Hard Rock when it is back in business next month and instead plan to announce a new name for the park within a week.
