In what can not be good news for Midwest Air, Southwest Airlines announced today that they will start flying into and out of General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee. Southwest will debut in “The Mil” this November and no doubt will go head to head with AirTran.
Southwest Airlines, which is known for its no-frills approach and equally low fares, is set to add service to cities like New York’s LaGuarida in June and Boston’s Logan in August. As always, expect airfare to drop when Southwest comes to town. So if you are thinking about a trip to the city of festivals, you may want to wait until later this summer to book it.The airline has not announced which destinations it plans to fly from Milwaukee. Currently, the closest cities Southwest Airlines serves are Minneapolis-St. Paul and Chicago.
So where do you think Southwest will pop up next? Do you have a city you wish they would service? Leave a comment below.
