Do you really need much convincing to visit Thailand? I mean the place is absolutely beautiful. But if you are still contemplating whether or not to venture off to this Southeast Asian country, then maybe the good people at the Tourism Authority of Thailand can sway your decision.
With Thailand facing a 15% decline in foreign visitors this year due to an awful worldwide economy and uncertainty among travelers to visit a country that is currently undergoing political upheaval, they have decided to go to the internet and start a new marketing idea.
They’re going to send five couples on a fully paid trip to the country and have them experience the top five tourist attractions that make Thailand so special. Those locations include Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui, Pattaya, and Chiang Mai. While on the six-day adventure, they must document their team stories to the social media world (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and other popular sites).
Videos, photos, blogs, and other ways to attract travelers to Thailand is the basic premise of the contest. The semi-finalists will be picked by a panel of TAT judges by October 15, and then the five teams will be judged by you the viewing audience through online polls. Some of the amazing prizes up for grabs include:
- A cool $10,000 USD to spend on whatever your little traveling heart desires.
- A holiday package valued at $3,000 USD (which can go a long way over there).
- Plus various other prizes like two Blackberry phones, a video camera, and spa treatments.
