Travel Blog Rewind: What I’ve Been Reading Online (July 13, 2010)

I am back with another Travel Blog Rewind, which cuts through the clutter that can sometimes be the blogosphere.

Below are a few travel blog posts that caught my eye recently. Enjoy them, stumble them, digg them and share them with your friends.

Have an interesting blog article you think needs to be featured in an upcoming Travel Blog Rewind post? Shoot me an email with the link.

Nora Dunn (aka the professional hobo) has a great piece about how she  flew $8,000 worth of business class flights for less than $1,500. Hard to believe? Well click here and prepare to have your travel loving mind blown.

The always interesting and extremely well traveled Andy Hayes provides his readers with the Definition of Vacation in a recent blog post. Think you already know what it is? Think again.

I absolutely love looking out the window of a plane when it is low enough to view the ground below. Keith Jenkins of Velvet Escape apparently also shares my love of views from high above as he just posted a great blog update entitled An Aerial Experience of Europe.  Enjoy the outstanding images that Keith took on his various travels.

The BP oil spill has devastated much of the Gulf Coast region and left many wondering why or how something like this could happen. The travel industry has been greatly affected by the negative media attention, with many people losing jobs and others wondering how they will survive financially. Recently  Spencer Spellman of Carolina Nomad (distant relative of Brooklyn Nomad) packed a bag, a camcorder and some Swedish fish and headed to the Gulf Coast for a quick three day jaunt.  Check out his updates here, here and oh yeah here.

I’ve been called a cookie monster on more than one occasion by my wife. That is because chances are if cookies are in my house, they will not last too long. Me love cookie. So when I saw my travel pal Laurie DePrete from Scene by Laurie post a blog article entitled Best NYC Cookies, I just had to share it with my readers. Nom, nom, nom.

You are so cute!! Thanks for including me in the rewind!
I think finding out about all the great folks who are also cookie lovers was even more fun than doing the research for this article :-)

  • Andrew Hickey

Don’t mention it. Your blog consistently has great post about NYC and the world. I have even picked up a few tips about New York from you.

  • Keith Jenkins

Awesome! Thanks for including my Aerial Views post. It’s one of my recent favourites. Really happy others loved it and share the same joy of looking out a plane window.

    Cheers,
    Keith :-)

Flattery will get you everywhere :-)

Thanks for the shoutout. Lots of good stuff going around the blogosphere lately…

  • Andrew Hickey

I ask, no demand, a window seat every time Keith. I need to look outside or else I go crazy.

  • Andrew Hickey

I agree many people “upping their game” as of late online Andy. Loving all the quality work online.

  • http://www.carolinanomad.com Spencer Spellman

Thanks Andrew! I’ve gotten such great responses from my trip and am summing things up this week with a couple more posts that pulls everything together.

  • Andrew Hickey

Looking forward to it Spencer. I’m a big advocate of getting the word out about visiting the Gulf Coast region & spending tourism dollars at hotels, restaurants and other local businesses. Good work my friend.

  • http://www.theprofessionalhobo.com Nora – The Professional Hobo

Awesome – thanks for the mention! I’m keeping pretty great company with some excellent posts/writers on this rewind too. Cheers!

  • Andrew Hickey

You deserve it Nora. Your blog has some great information and this blog post taught me a thing or two about flying biz and 1st class cheaper. Thanks for sharing!
