With more travel blogs online these days than adult websites about midgets, keeping track of them all can be a bit overwhelming. So from time to time I like to spotlight posts that caught my attention recently. Be sure to Stumble, Digg, re-tweet, and print them out for your grandmother to enjoy.
Last week I wrote about “Cities I Don’t Want to Visit Again“, but are there certain places you never intend on visiting? Over at Adventurous Kate, self proclaimed “Travel guru, Vegas expert! Adventurer and Vagabondress” Kate McCulley writes about “The 5 Places I Refuse to Visit.” One includes a destination where it is common to see 60-year old men mingling with teenagers.
Do you consider your passion for travel a quest? Over at Traveling Savage, Keith Savage wrote a great post entitled “The Importance of the Quest.” In it Savage explains why he chose to use the word quest to describe his passion for travel. Savage writes: “But why quest? Why not goal, mission, or guiding principle? I chose the word “quest” because I like its inherent romanticism, literary connections, and etymology.”
Think a multi-city trip means a more expensive trip? Think again. In his blog post “How to Use Multi-City Flights to See More Places for Less“, Anil at FoxNomad explains in great detail how you can tack on more to your next vacation without breaking the bank.
You think your commute to work is a pain in the neck? Chances are it is not as bad as “The Top 5 Worst Bus Rides in Burma” that Legal Nomads” Jodi Ettenberg wrote about on her blog.
If you follow me on Twitter, then you may have heard that I am thinking about doing a one-way cross country road trip later this year with GAP Adventures head honcho Bruce Poon Tip and Matt Kepnes (aka Nomadic Matt). Where we plan to go is still up in the air, but if you’re thinking of hitting the highway and seeing this great country, check out Don Nadeau’s blog where he put together an awesome itinerary in a post entitled “Planning the Perfect Road Trip in North America.”
I have always been infatuated with Germany. There is just something fantastic about a country that enjoys giant pretzels with their equally large beers. So when I recently came across a recap by travel expert and all around cool Scottish dude Andy Hayes about his visit to Cologne, Germany, I had to share it with my readers. Andy’s “The Sweet Smell of Cologne“ blog post is tempting me to visit Kayak and book a trip to Deutschland this year.
